| The African
Wild Dog Conservancy is currently working with
American Zoo and Aquarium
Association member zoos to better understand the process
of pack formation in African wild dogs. This ongoing study
aims to provide a scientific basis for establishing introductory
guidelines to minimize social stress, reduce risk of physical
injury, and facilitate social integration when forming artificially
selected packs. Findings have potential application for
zoo management and translocation operations in free-ranging
populations. |
To
date, the following zoos are participating in this study: |
| |
- Fort Wayne
- Knoxville
- Lincoln Park
